The renewed Hotel Lycium Debrecen opens — distinctive style and quiet elegance in the heart of the city

On 12 January 2026 we formally reopened the fully refurbished Hotel Lycium Debrecen, which now operates under Handwritten Collection, a brand of the Accor Group, one of the world's leading hotel companies. Hotel Lycium is the first Handwritten Collection hotel outside Budapest, setting a new standard for the region's hotel industry.

The project was delivered as an investment by SZINORG Group, with HUNÉP Zrt. as contractor — in just 11 months.

A new standard of hospitality in Debrecen

The refurbishment, worth more than HUF 1 billion, delivered 92 guest rooms — including Superior and Deluxe rooms and suites — along with modern shared spaces, a new restaurant, technically equipped conference rooms and modern building management systems. The interior design was created by lead architect and designer Krisztina Fülöp (KompDesign Stúdió), to Accor's demanding international standards.

Hotel Lycium's part in Debrecen's conference tourism

The refurbished Hotel Lycium Debrecen is directly connected to the Kölcsey Központ, making it an ideal venue for business events, conferences and professional gatherings. Our aim with the development was to strengthen Debrecen's standing further on the domestic and international conference tourism map.

As part of the opening ceremony, a five-party strategic cooperation agreement was signed between:
