SZINORG at the Portfolio Property Investment Forum 2025 — Debrecen and the Hungarian hotel market in focus

SZINORG Group again took an active part in Hungary's most significant property event, the Portfolio Property Investment Forum 2025. Held on 23 September in Budapest, the conference brought together the key players in the domestic property sector to discuss current market trends, challenges and opportunities.

Sándor Szabó, Deputy CEO of SZINORG Universal Zrt., took part in two panel discussions, setting out the Group's role in real-estate development in Debrecen and in the changing regional hotel market.

Together for Debrecen's development

In the panel "At the gateway of new opportunities: the impact of economic growth on real-estate development in Debrecen", Sándor Szabó represented SZINORG Group alongside Debrecen's leading developers, as part of a joint appearance coordinated by EDC Debrecen. Organised under the message "Together for Debrecen's development", the collaboration set out to show the development and investment opportunities that rest on the city's economic potential.

The BMW investment, the expansion of the international airport, the development of the industrial parks and the growth in hotel capacity all signal that Debrecen is on a dynamic, deliberate path of growth. The discussion showed that more than EUR 12 billion of investment came into the city over the past decade, and that the 2020–2030 period will bring significant growth in local GDP. Panellists agreed that economic growth continues to generate fresh development opportunities.

A stabilising hotel market — an optimistic outlook

The conference's other prominent theme was the panel "Is the hotel market still flying?", which examined the current position and prospects of the Hungarian hotel industry. Sándor Szabó represented the regional hotel development market alongside two of the segment's defining players, BDPST Ingatlanfejlesztő and Forestay Group.

The discussion showed that the market is currently stabilising, while occupancy rates and average prices are both rising — particularly in Budapest.

SZINORG Group is following a "buy" strategy, with the aim of positioning Debrecen once again as an outstanding conference destination.
